Construction on Parramatta River’s long-awaited Escarpment Boardwalk has started opposite the Parramatta Ferry Wharf.
The river-level pedestrian and cyclist connection will deliver a missing link in the Parramatta Valley Cycleway, connecting Parramatta Park to Melrose Park through completely off-road facilities. It will also provide a new set of stairs up to Stewart Street and Macarthur Street to ensure safe and direct access for the public and local school students.
Construction is expected to be completed in early 2021. The Parramatta Ferry will be closed for a portion of the construction period. Ferry replacement buses will be running between Parramatta and Rydalmere from the 7th of April 2020.

Anticipated for completion in 2021, proposed upgrades to the Escarpment Boardwalk are part of significant ongoing investment in the transformation of the Parramatta City River Foreshore. Along with the Charles Street Square upgrade, these projects will create an accessible, green, and vibrant foreshore that is connected to our City.
