Active Citizenship Schools Award 2020

Lord mayor Bob Dwyer handing out an award

The City of Parramatta Council invites each school within the local government area to nominate one student to receive an Active Citizenship Award, to be presented as part of your school's annual Presentation Ceremony.  Only ACARA registered schools geographically located within the City of Parramatta are eligible to submit a nomination.

Who is nominated is a decision of the school, but we ask that you consider the following criteria to identify a student who has:

  • made an effort to create a welcoming, inclusive and just school community
  • contributed to the wider community
  • participated well in representative bodies or community service groups

The Active Citizenship Award is not an academic award. We hope you see it as an opportunity to recognise the positive efforts of a student who does not often receive recognition.

Award winners receive a certificate and a $50 Dymocks Voucher, and will also receive an invitation to a celebratory function hosted by the Lord Mayor in the new year. We would love a representative of the school to also join us for that event.

Nominate a student

Please complete a nomination form with details of your school, the student and the prize-giving event.  Please submit the form at least two weeks before your Presentation Ceremony.

If you would like the Lord Mayor or a Councillor to attend your Presentation Ceremony to present the award, you will need to send an invitation direct to the Lord Mayor’s office, who will arrange that for you. Contact details will be send to you once we received your nomination form.
